ClipThis (“we,” “us,” “our,” or the “Platform”) operates a global marketplace for user-generated video clips via clipthis.tech, the ClipThis web application, and any ClipThis mobile apps. Creators (“Creators”) can launch campaigns, and community members (“Clippers”) can submit, publish, and monetize clips.

This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) is the privacy policy for the ClipThis application and website. It explains how we collect, use, disclose, store, and process personal information — including data received when you sign in with Google — and the rights and choices you have regarding such personal information.

Your use of our Services and Site is subject to this Policy and our Terms of Service.

Data collection and usage (summary)

This Privacy Policy explains how ClipThis collects, uses, shares, and stores personal data when you use clipthis.tech, the ClipThis web application, and any ClipThis mobile apps (together, the “Services”). We collect information you provide, information collected automatically, and information from service providers needed to operate the marketplace.

Personal data we collect:

  • Account data: name, username, email address, hashed password, and social login identifiers (including Google Sign-In name, email, profile photo, and Google user ID when you choose Google login; Discord when you choose Discord)
  • Campaign and clip data: campaign titles, descriptions, budgets, statuses, submitted clip links (TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, X), view counts, and performance metrics
  • Payment and payout data: amounts, transaction status, and billing records processed by Stripe and Kiip.app (we do not store full payment card numbers)
  • Device and usage data: IP address, browser/OS, device identifiers, timestamps, pages or screens viewed, crash and security logs
  • Communications: support requests, feedback, and newsletter preferences

How we use this data:

  • Provide the Services: create and authenticate accounts, run campaigns, accept clip submissions, verify views, and process payouts
  • Perform our contract with you and provide customer support, including transactional notifications
  • Security, fraud and abuse prevention, and troubleshooting
  • Legal compliance (including tax and bookkeeping retention)
  • Analytics and product improvement; marketing tracking only with consent

We do not sell personal information. We share data with the service providers listed below (hosting, payments, analytics, verification) and, where needed to run campaigns, with other users (for example public profiles). Privacy requests and account deletion: hello@clipthis.tech.

Google Sign-In and Google user data

ClipThis offers account registration and login with Google Sign-In (OAuth), provided through our authentication provider (Supabase Auth) and Google LLC. If you choose “Continue with Google,” we receive the following Google account information from Google, subject to your consent and Google’s sharing settings:

  • Basic profile information: name and profile photo (if available)
  • Email address: the address associated with your Google account
  • Google user identifier: a stable ID used to link your ClipThis account to Google Sign-In

How we use Google user data: solely to create and authenticate your ClipThis account, sign you in, manage your account, prevent fraud and abuse, and send necessary service-related messages (for example account or security notices). We do not sell Google user data, do not use it to serve third-party ads, and do not use it to build advertising profiles outside ClipThis.

Sharing: Google user data is shared with infrastructure and authentication processors needed to operate Sign-In (in particular Supabase). We do not share Google user data with other ClipThis users except information you choose to display on your public ClipThis profile.

Storage and deletion: We keep Google-related account identifiers for as long as your ClipThis account remains active. You may disconnect Google Sign-In where the product settings allow it, or request deletion of your ClipThis account and associated personal data by emailing hello@clipthis.tech. After account deletion we remove Google-linked account data unless a legal retention duty applies (for example payment bookkeeping).

No sensitive Google scopes: ClipThis only requests standard Sign-In scopes (OpenID, email, profile). We do not access Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, or other sensitive Google user content.

This Policy applies to personal information we process in connection with:

  • Our websites and hosted applications, including clipthis.tech (the “Site”), mobile apps, and related services (the “Services”);
  • Current, former, and prospective Creators, Clippers, and Affiliates;
  • Participants in our promotions, surveys, events, or programs;
  • Individuals subscribed to our marketing or communications;
  • Individuals engaging with us via support, social login, or integrations.

Not in scope: Job applicants, employees, or contractors (covered by separate policies).

2. Personal Information Collection

We collect personal information directly, from third parties, and automatically:

A. Directly collected information

  • Account & Registration: name, username, email, password (hashed), or social login IDs (Google, Discord); profile info and preferences.
  • Campaigns & Clips: campaign titles, descriptions, budgets, statuses; clip links (TikTok/YouTube), views/performance, associations between Creators/Clippers.
  • Payments & Payouts: payment data via Stripe, payouts via Kiip.app, Apify verification data; payout amounts, billing information, transaction records.
  • Communications: support requests, messages, preferences, chat logs, responses.

B. From third parties

  • Social logins & integrations (Google Sign-In basic profile, email, and user ID; Discord). See Google Sign-In and Google user data.
  • Payment processors (Stripe, Kiip.app).
  • Verification tools (Apify).
  • Analytics/advertising networks (Google Analytics, TikTok Pixel, Meta Pixel).

C. Automatically collected

  • Device & Browsing data: IP address, device IDs, browser/OS, referrer, timestamps, pages visited.
  • Usage & Activity: clicks, searches, features used, errors, logs.
  • Tracking technologies: cookies, SDKs, pixels (TikTok, Meta, Google); Umami Analytics (self-hosted, privacy-friendly).

3. Purposes of Collection and Use (Legal Bases)

We process personal information for:

  • Contract performance: account creation, clip submissions, campaigns, payouts, support.
  • Legal compliance: tax, bookkeeping, regulatory obligations.
  • Legitimate interests: security, fraud prevention, platform optimization, analytics, research.
  • Consent: marketing communications, conversion tracking (Google Analytics, TikTok Pixel, Meta Pixel).

4. Disclosure of Information

We share information with:

  • Vendors & Service Providers: Stripe, Kiip.app, Apify, Novu, Supabase, Railway, AWS, Cloudflare, Google, Umami, Calendly, Discord, TikTok Pixel, Meta Pixel.
  • Other Users: campaign/clip visibility, profile info, comments.
  • Regulators & Authorities: when legally required.
  • Business Transactions: mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, asset transfers.

5. Aggregate & Non-identifiable Information

We may process anonymized or aggregated data for analytics, research, and product improvement.

6. Cookies, Targeting & Analytics

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies on our website. A cookie consent banner is displayed on your first visit. No non-essential cookies are set without your consent.

A. Essential Cookies

These cookies are necessary for the website to function and cannot be disabled.

  • Session cookies (Supabase Auth): Manage your login session. Deleted on logout or expiration.
  • cookieConsent: Stores your cookie preference (accepted or declined). Does not expire.

B. Analytics Cookies (consent required)

These cookies help us understand how visitors use the website.

  • PostHog: Session recordings, pageviews, and user behavior analytics. Provider: PostHog Inc. (EU servers). Legal basis: Consent.
  • Google Tag Manager / Google Analytics: Pageviews, conversion tracking, and user behavior. Provider: Google LLC. Legal basis: Consent. Data transfers to the US are covered by EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
  • Umami Analytics: Anonymized pageview statistics. Cookieless and privacy-friendly — no personal data is collected. Legal basis: Legitimate interest.

C. Marketing Cookies (consent required)

  • TikTok Pixel: Conversion tracking for ad campaigns. Provider: TikTok Inc.
  • Meta Pixel (Facebook): Conversion tracking for ad campaigns. Provider: Meta Platforms Inc.

D. Your Choices

You can change your cookie settings at any time via the "Cookies" link in the website footer. You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Please note that the website may not function properly without essential cookies.

7. Your Privacy Choices

  • Opt out of marketing emails (unsubscribe link).
  • Manage cookie/tracking settings via the footer Cookies link.
  • Access and update account information in settings.
  • Withdraw consent where applicable.
  • Request deletion of your account and personal data by emailing hello@clipthis.tech.

8. Children’s Privacy

Our Services are not directed to children under 13 (or 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected such data, we will delete it. Parents or guardians may contact hello@clipthis.tech.

9. Third-Party Sites & Services

External sites (e.g., TikTok, YouTube, Discord) have their own privacy practices.

10. International Data Transfers

We and some providers (e.g., Stripe, AWS, Cloudflare) may process data outside the EU/EEA.

Safeguards: EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and other approved mechanisms.

11. Security

We implement technical and organizational measures (TLS encryption, access controls, monitoring). However, no system is 100% secure.

12. Retention

  • Account data: retained until account deletion.
  • Payment/transaction data: retained 10 years (legal requirement).
  • Logs: 30–90 days (longer if required for security).
  • Analytics: GA retention settings (14–26 months); Umami anonymized immediately.

13. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy. Material changes will be notified via email or platform notices.
